Cheapest United Cutlery UC2637 Ikazuchi Forged Ball Tip Sword Cane 1045 Problem with push-button releaseBy JJJimThe united cutlery sword cane does have an overall nice construction and it is a suitable addition to any collection. Some of the positive attributes of this sword cane include a nicely-wrapped handle that offers a superior grip to many other handle styles, what appears to be a three-quarter tang, decent blade balance, and a very nice look. On the downside, this sword cane is easily dinged/scratched, should not be used as a means of support (the plastic tip on the bottom should at least be updated to a rubber tip--easily done with chair tips from Lowe's and similar stores), and, worst of all in my opinion, the push-button release does not secure the sword. That is, the sheath and sword can be pulled apart with one's bare hands despite the push-button mechanism. On closer inspection, the push-button remains depressed when the sword is sheathed--meaning that that the catch is not catching. It does not seem likely for the sheath to fall off on its own, but the weapon is not very safe in that the button is not required to unsheathe the sword.
